Hold down Cmmnd + Option (Mac OS X) when you connect ur iPod, keep holding it until iTunes starts.

(PC users - hold down Ctrl + Shift & hold until iTunes starts)

in itunes select the device under options click manually manage music and videos

iTunes will initiate the iPod connection wizard. Confirm the name of your iPod. Deselect the option for "Automatically update" your iPod.

Is it possible to download songs to your iPod from a different computer than the original one you used, say because the first one broke? Join or Log In to answer.

yes but make sure its on manual sync not autosync or you'll lose everything on the ipod.

Actually you need to use something called sharepod. It allows you to move the music from your ipod to any computer you like.

hold the menu and the center button at the same time for 10 seconds, or until the iPod reboots.
